      How does Beta-Glucan work?

Beta-glucan is a fiber that has been shown in clinical studies to help improve skin hydration and healing (Du et al 2014). It works as a humectant moisturizer (helps attract water to the top layers of the skin) and repairs by helping boost the skin barrier. On a cellular level, Beta-Glucan works by interacting with immune cells and skin cells. Beta-glucan binds to receptors of immune and skin cells. It activates the immune cells (macrophages) that help reduce inflammation and kill bacteria. It also activates the skin cells (keratinocytes and fibroblasts) that work to make new skin, blood vessels and collagen. The activation of the immune cells and skin cells leads to improve hydration of the skin and skin healing.
